LEIGH FORBES: Books of all Sorts

The Secret of Lakeham Abbey

by Sally Quilford.

Hooked from the start, I read this book in a single day. I loved Percy – he makes a great protagonist – and I find myself wanting him to have more adventures, just so I can find out what he’s getting up to. I also like Quilford’s strong female characters, and the way she weaves modern attitudes so cleverly into a historical setting.
